# Awasi Atacama - Information & Tips

#### **Travel Insurance**

 Due to the nature of our excursions and the remoteness of our location, we require our guests to purchase travel insurance prior to travelling. As a useful tip, most major credit card companies offer insurance free of charge, when the travel expenses have been paid through them.

#### C**limate**

Throughout the year the usual daytime temperature is between 68°F ² 86°F (20ºC ² 30ºC).  
**At night, however, temperatures can drop to freezing and below (32°F / 0ºC). Additionally, on some excursions to higher altitude zones, you may experience extreme cold temperatures.**   
Please note that all excursions are subject to weather conditions.

#### **Altitude**

San Pedro is situated 8,036 feet (2,450 meters) above sea level, and many of the excursions on offer take place at even higher altitudes. To help prevent Altitude Sickness (Acute Mountain Sickness) we recommend:  
 - No strenuous physical activities one the first 1-2 days of your stay  
 - Drink plenty of water (at least three liters per day)  
 - Avoid drinking alcohol and/or coffee

#### **Connectivity**

 While we encourage you to disconnect during your stay, we do provide Wi-Fi to all rooms and common areas. Please keep in mind though, San Pedro de Atacama is a remote town and our internet service may be slow or intermittent at times.
