What to Know:

  • Climate – This area of the Atlantic Rainforest has a humid subtropical climate, which means it is generally very warm and it can rain frequently. However, there are some seasonal variations. Please note that all excursions are subject to weather conditions.
October – March: This is the South American spring and summer, therefore you will encounter the hottest temperatures, reaching between 86°F and 95°F (30°C – 35°C) during the day and between 64°F and 75°F (18°C and 24°C) during the night. Heavy rainfall is normal during this time, with an average of 7.5 to 11 inches (200-300 mm) per month. The rainfall and its resulting increased water flow to the Falls is one of the advantages to visiting at this time. Please keep in mind, however, that intense rain could also affect the normal operation of some excursions.

April – September: During these months, temperatures are significantly cooler, spanning between 59°F and 77°F (15°C and 25°C) during the day, but are especially colder during the night, when it can drop to between 41°F and 59°F (5°C and 15°C). While rain is still frequent, the monthly average is only 4 to 6 inches (100-150 mm).

  • Weather – You can check the exact weather forecast during your stay in the following link: Awasi Iguazú weather
  • Location – Awasi Iguazú is located in a very private section of natural rainforest. These are the driving distances to the different attractions:
    Puerto Iguazu: 15 minutes
Puerto Iguazu Airport (Argentina): 25 minutes
Iguazu National Park / Waterfalls (Argentina): 20 minutes
Iguaçu National Park / Waterfalls (Brazil): ca. 1 hour (*)
Foz de Iguaçu Airport (Brazil): ca. 45 minutes (*)
(*) Includes crossing an international border.

  • Excursions – The most sought-after attraction, Iguazú Falls, is located just 20 minutes by car from our lodge. However, there are many more natural and cultural attractions available to visit, and excursions that we have designed privately at Awasi with renowned specialists, exclusively for Awasi guests. Please refer to our Excursion Website or talk to your Personal Reservations Assistant for more information.
  • The Iguazú Falls – One of the world’s top natural wonders. It’s no surprise they are the most visited destination in Argentina after Buenos Aires. However, this popularity means Iguazu is a busy attraction. At Awasi, we do our best to avoid crowds and the midday heat by visiting the falls as early or late as possible. While our guests have the freedom to choose their own timings for their excursions, we strongly advise making an effort to visit when there are fewer people around to have the best possible experience.
Important notice: During October 2023, the Iguazu Falls registered abnormally high water flows, resulting in an incredible spectacle. However, the increased water levels could affect certain excursions including the Argentine side of the Waterfalls and those carried out near rivers and streams, which could be out of order or modified to ensure our Guests' and Staff's safety. The feasability of these excursions will be asessed by local authorities and our management daily.

  • Connectivity – We suggest that while at Awasi Iguazú you try to disconnect. However, our villas and Main Lodge have internet. Please keep in mind that the signal may be intermittent or slow because of our location.

  • Villas – All villas are separated from the Main Lodge and there is enough space between villas to ensure the utmost privacy. There are between 50 and 200 meters between the villas and the Main Lodge, so we have an internal pick-up service that you may request in case you need it.

  • Electricity – In Argentina, the standard voltage is 220 V, and the power plugs and sockets are of type "C" and "I". In Iguazu, electric supply is sometimes fluctuant, which is why we have our own generator at Awasi. However, short blackouts may occur occasionally in the few minutes the generator takes to set in.

  • Insects and wildlife – Please note that this is a subtropical environment and therefore, you could encounter various insects and animals. Most of them are harmless, but we do suggest avoiding contact as a general precaution. We have planted naturally repellent plants and fumigate our premises periodically. Furthermore, there are meshed window screens and insecticide spray available in your villa. Our staff is available to assist you if you have any doubts.
